Welcome to the State of California

CMWizard for California

CMWizard is the only content management system available that incorporates all of the new California Portal Design specifications. Complete with all templates, javascripts, and graphics, this easy to use system can get your department started on the migration today!

How will template and style updates be supported?

  • All updates to the California Portal templates, styles, and javascripts can easily be installed into CMWizard.  Administrators simply click a button within CMWizard and the updates will be loaded into your version of CMWizard!  The current 1.20 version dated March 27th has already been incorporated!

Where does CMWizard reside in our network?

  • CMWizard is installed in the development area of your network.  It is configured to publish your pages, documents, and images to your live website through the use of a built-in FTP module.

Does CMWizard support dynamic pages such as ASP, .Net, or ColdFusion?

  • Dynamic Code in Content Section of a Page - Yes.  When a page is created simply include the respective file extension in the page name and select the dynamic page option.  In the content section of the page, select the file with the dynamic code from the drop down list provided.  (This requires that you already uploaded your dynamic code into CMWizard)
  • Dynamic Code in a Template or Menu (Module) - Yes.  However, all pages that use the template or menu must be created as a dynamic page.

What types of pages are output through CMWizard?

  • Dynamic Pages - When a page is first created the author makes a choice whether it will be dynamic or not.  If the page is dynamic, the file extension must be included in the file name.  The resulting page will be that of the file extension provided.
  • Static Pages - All non-dynamic page output from CMWizard is in pure HTML format and the file extension is .htm

Can a developer continue to use existing coding tools such as DreamWeaver or Visual Studio?

  • Yes.  CMWizard is not designed to replace your development team nor the tools they use.  Developers simply edit the dynamic files within the CMWizard file structure using their existing tools.  However, it is important that the creation of new pages or the uploading of images remain a function of CMWizard in order to make necessary entries into the backend database.

Do I need to republish the pages that use dynamic code if I only uploaded a change to the dynamic code?

  • No.  When a developer uploads changes to existing dynamic code, the changes are automatic and immediate.  Uploading the dynamic code sends it directly to the live server.  Since this component is used though an include statement, changes are immediate.

Can CMWizard be used for our Intranet?

  • Yes.  Your Intranet is treated as a seperate site and your customized templates, styles, and design can be built into CMWizard.  Discount pricing is available if you purchase the Internet/Intranet combination.

Where are images stored for my website?

  • CMWizard requires a folder named 'Images' at the root level of your website.  You can create sub-folders under the Images folder and store your images within this structure.  CMWizard keeps a copy of all images within it's environment as well as publishing them to your live website.

Where are documents stored for my website?

  • Within each section of your website a 'Documents' folder is automatically created.  This allows managers of their own website section to control who is allowed to upload and manage the documents within their control.
